Festival of Nations 2011

August 27-28, 2011

The Festival of Nations has become the premiere multi-cultural event in St. Louis. This year, the weather was wonderful and the Sister Cities booth had a very visible location near the entrance to Tower Grove Park. We were especially honored that Mayor Francis Slay dropped by and spent time looking at our activities and taking pictures with our volunteers. Our children's activities drew a steady crowd of kids and their parents, eager to receive one of our passports. By completing an activity at each of our booth's tables, they received a passport stamp from one of our sister cities.

At the St. Louis-Samara Sister Cities table, we showed kids how to spell their first name in Russian and had some nice Russian artifacts, which included a samovar, a Cossak hat, a shapka ushanka (Russian fur hat), some Russian spoons, and several kids books written in Russian. It was a great weekend and we are already planning for next year's event. Thank you to our volunteers and to everyone who stopped by our booth.
