A medical delegation from Samara came to St. Louis in 2010 and learned about the St. Louis region's healthcare systems and the complexities of their integration. Delegates visited several of the region's outstanding academic medical institutions including Southern Illinois University School of Nursing, St. Louis University School of Medicine, and Barnes-Jewish Hospital at Washington University Medical Center and Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine. To complement these visits, several local hospitals were toured, including AW Health Care Center, Anderson Hospital and SSM DePaul Hospital.

We were honored that St. Louis County Executive, Charlie Dooley and St. Louis City Mayor, Francis Slay took time out of their busy schedules to meet the Samarans. Last but not least, the delegates enjoyed a session on effective business leadership from the Daley Consulting Group.

Social activities included a welcoming reception at the home of one of the host volunteers and sightseeing visits to the St. Louis Arch, City Museum, the Science Center and a tour of Forest Park. A farewell reception with all the host families and shopping trips to local malls rounded out their visit.
